One of my favorite things about being a New York City portrait photographer is getting to meet really interesting people. For this environmental portrait photography assignment, I spent a couple of hours with Erik Friedlander, a “visionary” cellist, composer, and solo artist, photographing him in and around his Soho neighborhood.

While I didn't have a lot of time to scout, the surrounding streets offered plenty of interesting backgrounds, textures, and variety for a complete on-location portrait session in NYC. The resulting images were created for Erik's social media, promotional materials, album art, and upcoming events.
